Campus C++ Software Engineer (Intern)

Jump Trading Group is committed to world class research. We empower exceptional talents in Mathematics, Physics, and Computer Science to seek scientific boundaries, push through them, and apply cutting edge research to global financial markets. Our culture is unique. Constant innovation requires fearlessness, creativity, intellectual honesty, and a relentless competitive streak. We believe in winning together and unlocking unique individual talent by incentivizing collaboration and mutual respect. At Jump, research outcomes drive more than superior risk adjusted returns. We design, develop, and deploy technologies that change our world, fund start-ups across industries, and partner with leading global research organizations and universities to solve problems. Core Development is a global team of technologists who architect, build and maintain our world-class trading platform. From optimizing our core trading engine to building custom hardware, we leverage software & hardware engineering, data science and research, to deliver the infrastructure and tools that drive our trading and business needs. ------------------------------- *Candidates should be interested in working in Singapore for their full-time job after graduation. ------------------------------- About the Role: Our APAC C++ team sits at the intersection of trading and technology — we build and maintain the live trading system, risk infrastructure, back testing infrastructure and platforms for post-trade analysis. You'll work on problems that matter, ship code that runs in production, and collaborate directly with various businesses, operations, and research teams across the firm. Responsibilities: C++ is our primary language and it touches everything we do. The scope is wide: • Live trading system — Design, build, and maintain the systems that connect our strategies to the exchange, including market data handling, order entry, and the full order lifecycle in between. Ensure these systems are optimized for high performance while remaining robust. • Business-specific infrastructure — Build the trading platforms that support the firm's expansion into new businesses and markets. Deliver solutions that enable strategic initiatives and make trading more efficient and intelligent • Risk infrastructure — Design the modules that monitor performance in real-time and apply pre-trade and post-trade controls across trading systems components to reduce the chance of outsized losses • Back testing infrastructure — Build and maintain the back testing infrastructure used by researchers to evaluate systematic strategies against large-scale historical market data • Post-trade analysis — Produce the datasets that traders and quantitative researchers rely on daily to make critical decisions. We build high-throughput, reliable C++ compute engines to collect, organize, and enrich billions of data points about our orders and market data every day, powering the analytics behind a wide array of trading strategies. • Production ownership — Debug real incidents, trace data through the full pipeline, and fix root causes. You build it, you run it, you own it Profile: • You write clean, production-quality code and take pride in the craft — not just making it work, but making it right • You are self-driven and proactive, with a natural instinct to take ownership and push through ambiguity • You collaborate well across teams — trading, operations, finance, and engineering all depend on what we build • You thrive in a fast-paced trading environment where priorities shift, projects need to move quickly, and you constantly need to pick up new skills and knowledge • You are genuinely curious about how things work under the hood — systems, markets, data flows — and you go deeper than the surface • You use AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, etc) to move faster — and you have the judgment to know when to trust the output and when to question it • You're rigorous with data — you dig into large datasets to resolve complex issues, and you don't trust easy conclusions Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field • Proficient in C++ with hands-on experience working with large-scale systems • Strong fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, system design, networking concepts and operating systems • Solid debugging skills and the ability to navigate unfamiliar codebases quickly • Comfortable working on Linux — command line, debugging, and bare-metal environments Bonus/Good to Have: • Experience with system performance optimization • Experience with Python • Contribution to open-source projects • Background in statistics or data analysis • Finance and economics knowledge • Competitive programming background
