Corporate Security Engineer

ABOUT AIRWALLEX Airwallex is the AI-native financial operating system for a real-time, intelligent economy. More than 675,000 businesses, including McLaren Racing, Qantas, SHEIN, and TikTok, use us, directly or through our platform partners, to run their financial operations or build and monetize financial products of their own. We started in Melbourne in 2015 to build the infrastructure global commerce runs on. We're the regulated backbone behind global payments: not by accident, but by design. A decade plus, 85+ licenses, and a financial infrastructure spanning North America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific. We're co-headquartered in San Francisco and Singapore, with more than 2,700 people across 27 offices. We hire builders with founder-level energy, people who move fast with good judgment, dig in with real curiosity, and make calls from first principles rather than waiting to be told what to do. HOW YOU'LL MAKE IMPACT As a Corporate Security Engineer, you’ll help defend Airwallex’s enterprise systems and employees against malware, phishing, unauthorised access, and other threats. You’ll detect, investigate, and prevent security issues across a modern corporate environment, working across digital forensics, incident response, security tooling, endpoints, identity providers, corporate networks, and other IT platforms. - Design, develop, test, and evaluate corporate security controls that reduce risk as the business grows. - Investigate malware, phishing, and other security incidents through digital forensics, incident response, and threat hunting across relevant log sources. - Build security alerts and workflows that strengthen the incident response lifecycle. - Secure corporate IT infrastructure and remediate issues across identity providers, endpoints, corporate networks, and other platforms. - Deploy, configure, and operate security tooling with a focus on measurable impact. You’ll work from our San Francisco office. 3 required days in the office. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Essentials - A passion for solving complex challenges in high-growth startups. - Self-motivation and drive to learn new skills or deepen existing ones. - A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a similar field. - 3+ years of experience working in a security engineering or incident response role within a technology company. - Strong experience with CrowdStrike, Splunk, or other common security monitoring tools. - An in-depth understanding of common attacker tools and techniques, how they can be detected and prevented, and the ability to respond to incidents with thorough, high-quality investigations. - Experience securing endpoints, including with MDM tooling such as Kandji or Intune. - Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical security and software concepts to a non-technical audience. Preferred - Experience with GCP, Alibaba Cloud, or other cloud platforms. - Experience with Okta, Google Workspace, and cloud-based VPN services. - A strong engineering mindset, with scripting experience in Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar languages. YOU'LL THRIVE HERE IF - You're comfortable with ambiguity. Give you a problem, not a prescription, and you'll run with it. - You hold yourself to a high standard even when no one is watching. Quality and accountability aren't external expectations, they're internal ones. - You simplify complexity rather than hiding behind it. - You over-communicate by design. You'd rather flag something early than let it become a surprise. - You’re comfortable operating across time zones with a globally distributed team, including colleagues based in APAC and EMEA. LEARN MORE ABOUT YOUR TEAM InfoSec at Airwallex runs one of the most modern security teams in the world, protecting hundreds of thousands of customers and hundreds of billions of dollars. Our scale, funding, and industry make us a real target, so we skip the standard playbook of off-the-shelf tools and tiered SOC analysts and build almost everything ourselves, often with AI ahead of the rest of the industry. You'll go back to first principles constantly, because the off-the-shelf answer is rarely right for us, and we can build better than what already exists. If you want to build security from the ground up, against a real adversary, with people who are actually good at this, this is the team for you.
