Senior Software Engineer (Full-Stack) - Merchants

Our Global Structure Deliveroo is now part of DoorDash, bringing together teams with even greater reach, scale, and ambition. Depending on your role, you may collaborate with teammates, systems, and leaders across DoorDash and Wolt. Together, we’re unlocking new possibilities as one global team. Senior Software Engineer (Full Stack) - Merchants Join us in our mission to transform the way people shop and eat, where impact, innovation and growth drive everything we do. Our Engineering teams tackle complex technical challenges across a global, three-sided marketplace, building and scaling systems that serve millions of customers, riders and partners every day. From real-time logistics to resilient infrastructure and marketplace optimisation, we design, build and operate technology that powers Deliveroo’s growth at scale. We partner with some of the largest grocery retailers in the world, as well as a large number of small independent grocers. The Team: MX Intelligence builds the tools DoorDash, Deliveroo and Wolt use to find, sign and onboard restaurants and merchants. That covers identifying and matching prospective merchants through to the CRM, quoting and contracting tools sales teams use to bring them onto the platform. We're replacing a Salesforce-based stack with one first-party platform shared across all three brands. We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineer - Full Stack to join our London team. In this role you'll work across the stack, from the backend services and integrations that handle merchant discovery, matching and onboarding to the web tools sales and operations teams use to quote and sign merchants. You'll own features end to end, partner closely with Product and Design, and lead technical planning as we move core sales workflows off Salesforce and onto our own platform Get to know our Engineering team — what drives us, how we work, and what you can expect. What You’ll Be Doing This role is based in our London office with a hybrid setup, typically 3 days in the office. Here’s what your day-to-day might look like: • Drive technical execution by designing, building, and scaling backend services and frontend components that handle high-traffic workloads (20krpm and above). • Lead architectural improvements and code reviews, ensuring the efficiency, visibility, and operational health of your team's systems. • Partner with cross-functional disciplines (PMs, Experience Designers) to plan projects, foresee dependencies, and mitigate technical risks. • Break down complex problems into deliverable choices, influencing the roadmap and technical direction within your team. • Support the growth of others by mentoring colleagues and taking an active role in our engineering hiring process to build high-performing teams. What You’ll Need to Thrive Our ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in some of these areas and curiosity to grow in others: • Significant experience building web-based applications in a modern stack; we use Go, Ruby, Python, and Scala, and we’re looking for someone keen to work across them. • Proven ability to design and operate web architecture at scale, specifically with systems handling significant request volumes. • Demonstrated ownership of relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and experience with "NoSQL" backends such as Redis, DynamoDB, or Elasticsearch. • A commitment to software craft, with a pride in writing readable, well-designed, and thoroughly tested code. • Strong collaborative leadership skills, with a track record of guiding implementation choices and supporting the personal growth of teammates.
